A new colour signature
Louis Moinet presents the TEMPOGRAPH SPIRIT AMBER, a limited edition of twelve pieces with strong character thanks to its evocatory amber color. This distinct hue evokes the fossilised resin and that deep link between matter and memory. The colour was chosen for its plant-like warmth. It plays a central role in the aesthetic concept of the timepiece. It guides the gaze, highlights focal points, and provides visual accompaniment to the reading of time.
The backstory

“Amber is the aesthetic hallmark of this edition; it also evokes memory frozen in time. The retrograde hand, fascinating for its precise and regular rhythm, reminds us of the importance of each second. Together, they offer a unique spectacle – one that expresses the identity of the TEMPOGRAPH SPIRIT AMBER.”

The colour of time
The amber colour on this limited edition is the visual link to the time-giving elements, that is, the hour dial, the twenty-second retrograde segment, and the small seconds counter at nine o'clock.
They are all encircled by a peripheral flange bearing the name of the great watchmaker, Louis Moinet. The vivid colour gives the reading of time a new intensity, both visual and functional.
The TEMPOGRAPH SPIRIT AMBER’s construction is based on precise balancing. The time indications are concentrated on the right-hand side. On the left is the fascinating retrograde mechanism along with the eighteen-screw balance, whose oscillations serve as a reminder that this timepiece is clocked at 480 vibrations per minute, or 28,800 vibrations per hour.
This play of inverted symmetry creates a visual tension that gives the watch a very strong presence on the wrist. The look is assertively contemporary, with a clearly structured aesthetic language that is made to be seen with the eye as well as understood with the mind. The very design subtly embodies the underlying philosophy of the TEMPOGRAPH SPIRIT AMBER model, because amber evokes the memory that makes up time, while the retrograde mechanism gives life to each new set of twenty seconds.
Redefining the now
The retrograde twenty-second mechanism of the TEMPOGRAPH SPIRIT AMBER is the epitome of technical sophistication.
The hand completes its arc in twenty seconds before returning instantaneously to its point of origin. It does this 4,320 times a day. This precise and rapid return is based on a meticulous interaction between a three-armed cam and a rake fitted with a ruby tip, chosen for its resistance to wear. The mechanism is held in place by the return spring, which is made of silicon, guaranteeing stability and consistency over time.

What this complication achieves is to transform the reading of seconds. Each reiterated jump of the retrograde hand creates a clear break in the passage of time. The eye is drawn to this rhythmic, almost hypnotic beat. Unlike a circular display, where time flows in a loop, here each return restores the importance of the moment, as if each second deserved to be restarted.

The Tempograph Spirit

“Some people watch time go by, while others make the most of every second. That's the essence of the TEMPOGRAPH SPIRIT. Its complication lets you measure time, while plunging into the magic of the moment.”
Jean-Marie Schaller
CEO & Creative Director
The choice of a retrograde display on a twenty-second segment rather than a traditional circular one accentuates this tension. Each second is a player in a separate event that is forcefully relaunched three times a minute, underlining the value of the present moment. The sensory experience is further enhanced by the architecture of the dial, upon which aesthetics and intertwined with the kinetic energy of the mechanics.

The case
Technical and comfortable
The timepiece is housed in 40.7-millimeter, grade-5 titanium case, a metal that combines lightness, strength, and a modern look – qualities perfectly suited to the technical nature of the timepiece.
The model’s distinct silhouette is further enhanced by a domed sapphire crystal and openworked lugs, giving the watch excellent ergonomics and a maximum view of the spectacle on the dial. The integrated bracelet extends this functional design logic, ensuring a natural continuity between the case and the wrist.
