The SPEED OF SOUND embodies a new contemporary interpretation of a historic calibre with a famous past. Les Ateliers Louis Moinet once again explores the creatively rich area framed by watchmaking heritage and modern craftsmanship through three new models, each strictly limited to just three pieces.
At the heart of the SPEED OF SOUND beats the Valjoux 88, an emblematic calibre from the 1940s, reinterpreted by Louis Moinet’s master watchmakers. It was modernised with utmost care and now features a completely reimagined moon indication: a hand-decorated domed disc set with an authentic fragment of lunar meteorite symbolising the full moon.
The design establishes an assertive artistic identity. The guilloché dial comes in three colours – black, green, and orange – each produced in an ultra-limited series of three pieces.
On the movement side, the entirely hand-executed engraving reveals a delicate decor of floral scrolls, a tribute to the traditional art of fine watchmaking.
The SPEED OF SOUND is a timepiece that harmoniously combines a historic calibre, innovation, and mechanical poetry.
