1816 Chronograph – Official nomination for the GPHG

It’s official: The 1816 CHRONOGRAPH has been nominated for the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) in the Chronograph category. It’s a perfect tribute for this year, which marks the 210th anniversary of the first chronograph in history, made by Louis Moinet in 1816.

The 1816 CHRONOGRAPH embodies this heritage in a resolutely contemporary timepiece. For this new edition, the dial and the intermediate links of the bracelet come in a warm champagne colour that reflects the golden tone of the calibre’s bridges.

The timepiece’s beating heart is the LM1816, a brand-new integrated movement developed specifically for the 1816 CHRONOGRAPH. Its architecture was dictated by the particular layout of the counters on the original 1816 model. It is made up of 330 components and boasts some haute-horlogerie hallmarks, like an instantaneous minute counter, column wheel control of chronograph functions, and a swan-neck regulator.

For the 1816 CHRONOGRAPH, Les Ateliers Louis Moinet developed its very first metal bracelet. It was named the BRIDGE project and crafted in grade 5 titanium. Thanks to its well-designed architecture it flows naturally from the case and gently hugs the wrist, offering outstanding comfort in wear.
